In India, sports such as cricket, tennis, and badminton are valued greatly, with children from all parts of the country playing some sport or the other in a certain capacity. This passion for sports, especially cricket, fuels the creation of exceptional cricket players amongst young boys and girls. While students from affluent backgrounds are able to pursue their passion as well as their education in a balanced and appropriate manner that helps them gain success in both fields, this is not always the case for young and developing sports players in rural and low-income areas of the country.
Children with exceptional sporting abilities from underserved communities struggle to gain access to quality education. Because of this, these students are unable to gain the soft and hard skills they require in order to pursue their dreams in the sporting industry. Super Over Sporting Dreams Initiative was created to bolster access to quality education for students with exceptional sporting abilities in marginalized communities.
